free* Functional Skills English and Maths courses

Global Skills provide free* Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT courses from Entry Level 1 (Beginner) to Level 2 (Advanced ).

You will be taught by welcoming and fully qualified tutors who will ensure the best possibility of passing your exams and progression to the next level.

These courses will give you the knowledge, confidence and understanding to apply English, Maths and ICT in everyday settings so you can progress into work or onto higher level courses and apprenticeships in the future.  

Entry Requirements        

You will do a test to see what level your English, Maths and ICT are so we can put you on the right level course.

Course Length               The course is approximately 3 to 6 months long

You will receive a certificate from well renowned awarding bodies, City and Guilds or Pearson Edexcel on completion of the course.

*These courses are free for EEA/UK citizens who have been resident in the EEA/UK for the past 3 years for purposes other than studying and are currently working or on particular benefits, and are subject to availability of funding from our partners

Edexcel Functional Skills qualification in English at Level 1/Level 2

Qualification objectives

The aims of these qualifications are to develop learner understanding and skills in:

Level 1 Overview of content

  • Speaking, Listening and Communication – take full part in formal and informal discussions and exchanges that include unfamiliar subjects.
  • Reading – read and understand a range of straightforward texts.
  • Writing – write a range of texts to communicate information, ideas and opinions using formats and styles suitable for their purpose and audience.

Level 2 Overview of content

  • Speaking, Listening and Communication – make a range of contributions to discussions in a range of contexts, including those that are unfamiliar, and make effective presentations.
  • Reading – select, read, understand and compare texts and use them to gather information, ideas, arguments and opinions.
  • Writing – write a range of texts, including extended written documents communication information, ideas and opinions, effectively and persuasively.

 

Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills qualification in Mathematics at Level 1/Level 2

Qualification objectives

The aims of these qualifications are to develop learner understanding and skills in:

  • Representing – selecting the mathematics and information to model a situation.
  • Analysing – processing and using mathematics.
  • Interpreting – interpreting and communication the results of the analysis.

Level 2 Overview of content
